When I was 50, I thought I might be getting old. When I was 60, I was pretty sure I was getting old. When I flew past 70, I no longer thought I would be getting old. I had arrived.
I no longer take off cross country on a minute's notice. I do have to plan a bit more, for rest stops along the way.
Lately I have been dizzy a lot so I have stayed home like a good old woman, but I think I will be on the road again soon.
I use to write a lot. I wrote poems and even short stories. I planned to write a book but got sidetracked into genealogy. Then I did write a book, but not fiction. I compiled a book on the descendants of Jonathan Day, born in Georgia and died in Wilkinson county, Mississippi. He was my 5th great grandfather through his daughter, Sally Day. Sally married Thomas Ashley and their descendants are many.
I have sold many copies of my book on Jonathan Day. I took a copy with me when I visited my daughter in Utah, and donated a copy to the Family History Library in Salt Lake City.
The Brigham Young University put it on line, with all the other family genealogies in the library there. It can be found at lib.byu.edu/fhc. Request it by author. If you request it by Day you will get 4000 hits. MonDAY, TuesDAY, etc.
Since I add new families and do corrections as an on going process, the book on line is now out of date, but still as a lot of useful information for anyone interested in the families of Wilkinson county, Mississippi.
Now I am working to up date my book on the Ashley families of Wilkinson county.
This book was not put on-line as I have yet to give a copy to the FHL in Salt Lake City. I have worked on this book for many years, about 30 or so, and have continued to add families and a few stories from interviews with older relatives. I am currently checking census and marriage records to get it as complete as possible.
I did sell a copies of the earlier Ashley book but then, started telling people it wasn't finished and would let them know when it was ready. That was quite a few years back. I really should get busy and finish it.
